How this board started (and who the Desk accounts are)

SomniTalk did not open empty, and we would rather explain that on day one than have you work it out on day three.

The Library was posted by us. Every article on the SomniCharts Learn site has a topic in Library — its title, its summary and a link to the article. Staff post those topics; the discussion underneath each one belongs to whoever shows up.

The starter topics were written by us. The "read me first" thread at the top of most categories is a staff post. It exists so that a category is not a blank page.

The discussions were seeded from real questions — anonymised. Support has been answering the same questions for a long time, in e-mail, in the in-app feedback panel and in the app's own help assistant. The most common ones were stripped of everything that could identify anybody — names, addresses, e-mail addresses, device serial numbers, clinic details, dates — and re-posted here by the desk that owns the subject, so that the answer is searchable instead of being retyped for the twentieth time.

There are no invented members. Every seeded post carries one of six badged accounts:

• Library Desk — which article answers which question
• Data Desk — AHI, leak, pressure, flow limitation, the charts
• Machines Desk — machines, cards, masks, humidifiers, hardware
• Newcomer Desk — the first weeks, and what is normal in them
• SomniCharts Support — the app itself: uploads, imports, tiles, billing
• SomniCharts Team — announcements, the rules, anything that must come from the operator

They all wear the SomniTalk Editor badge, and each one's profile says in plain words that it is an editorial account. You will never see one of them posting as a patient, inventing a story, or agreeing with itself under another name. If you ever think you are reading a manufactured member, say so — in Site Feedback — and we will show you the account.

Why seed at all? Because an empty forum asks its first visitor to do all the work: ask the question, wait, and hope. Fifteen threads and a shelf of reference topics mean the first real member arrives somewhere that already answers something.

What happens to these threads now? Nothing special. They are ordinary topics. Reply to them, disagree with them, correct them — several of them will be wrong within a year, because machines and apps change and we do not always notice first. A correction from a member is worth more to this board than a tidy seeded thread.
